Overnight Camping in Mikea Forest | Andavandoaka

Who are the Mikea?

Mikea are indigenous nomads of Madagascar who live in the spiny forest of the southwest. They are passive people who maintain their special traditions and culture. I have been exploring their way of life and I feel it is something for everyone to enjoy. They will reveal different types of medicinal plants, teach you how they hunt wild birds and animals and how to collect all of the food needed in the spiny forest. This is a really authentic experience!

We will arrive in the Mikea village in the afternoon. The plan is to follow the Mikea as they use traditional methods to hunt for birds and other food in the forest. Later that night we will set up camp to sleep in the forest with them. After a night of campfire music, we will share breakfast in the morning back at the village before concluding our adventure.
