13-Days to Discover Madagascar on a Budget

This tour provides the best adventures and sights from Lemurs, baobabs, rainforest, desert, hiking, to diving. The perfect destination for adventurous travelers from single ones to scheduled group in order to discover Morondava where you admire the alleys of Baobab, Kirindy forest and the village of Betania and then continuing to the the South- East, the rainforests of Ranomafana National Park to meet Hapalemur, one of the most attractive lemurs in Madagascar.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Antananarivo

  • One guide from the company is assisting you at the airport and helping you with the formalities and transferring to the hotel.
  • Overnight at le Pavé Hotel Antaninarenina

Day 2: Antananarivo – Antsirabe

  • Early in the morning, depart from the hotel to reach Antsirabe.
  • The drive takes about five (5) hours from Antananarivo to Antsirabe where you stop for lunch. There will be stops for photos and break if necessary.
  • After lunch, you will continue the road to discover the beauty of the villages we pass by.
  • Overnight at Chez Honey hotel

Day 3: Antsirabe – Ambositra – Ranomafana

  • Early in the morning, leave Antsirabe to reach Ranomafana.
  • The drives take about five 7 hours from this area to Ranomafana where you stop for lunch. There will be stops for photos and break if necessary.
  • You’ll arrive late in Ranomafana and a night walk is organized.
  • Overnight at Fandriana Tsara Hotel

Day 4: Ranomafana

  • After breakfast, spend the day exploring Ranomafana National Park.
  • Embark on guided walks through dense rainforests, where you’ll admire gorgeous wildlife, including lemurs and exotic bird species and its rich natural heritage.
  • In the afternoon, visit of the village of Ranomafana and swim in the hot spring pool.
  • Overnight at Fandriana Tsara  Hotel

Day 5: Ranomafana – Ambositra – Antsirabe

  • Early in the morning, leave Ranomafana.
  • Continue the adventure on the National Road 7 to reach Ambositra, a locality known for its handcraft local factory and souvenir shops.
  • Lunch in Ambositra.
  • Overnight at Chez Honey Antsirabe

Day 6: Antsirabe – Miandrivazo

  • Early in the morning, depart to Antsirabe and continue to Miandrivazo for the road trip to Morondava.
  • The drive takes about five (5) hours from Antananarivo to Antsirabe where you stop for lunch. There will be stops for photos and break if necessary.
  • After lunch, you will continue the road to Miandrivazo.
  • Overnight at Soalia Hotel Miandrivazo

Day 7: Miandrivazo – Morondava

  • After breakfast, you will continue the road trip to Morondava.
  • The drive which takes about six (6) hours. There will be stops for photos and break if necessary.
  • Arrive on time for great pictures when the sun is low, raking light, and smooth trunks reflect the orange rays of the sun at the Avenue of Baobabs.
  • Overnight at Trecicogne

Day 8: Morondava – Kirindy

  • After breakfast at the hotel, depart for a visit of the Kirindy Forest, a private reserve which is well-known by its giant jumping rat, the “Fossa”, the largest carnivorous animal in the country. It is also one of the reserve having most endangered ecosystems, lemur species, and many endemic reptile species. There are also some unique species of rare flora.
  • Then, the visit is continued to Akiba Lodge where you notice different species of lemurs before heading back to Morondava.
  • Overnight at Trecicogne

Day 9: Morondava

  • Full-day relax in the city of Morondava where you do the city tour in the morning and beach time in the afternoon.
  • Overnight at Trecicogne

Day 10: Morondava – Antananarivo (by flight)

  • Early in the morning, visit of the village of Betania known for its boat maker then Leave Morondava .
  • One guide from the company is transferring you to the airport for your flight to Antananarivo.
  • Overnight at Soatel Antananarivo

Day 11: Antananarivo – Andasibe

  • After breakfast at the hotel, you’ll depart for a visit to the Peyreiras Reptile Reserve (3 hours on drive) to see up close captive Panther Chameleons, Island Chameleons, Stump-tail Chameleons, Brookesia Chameleons, Golden Mantella Frogs, Tomato Frogs, Madagascar Tree Boas, Leaf-nose Snakes, Cat-eyed Snakes, tenrecs, and numerous species of Leaf-tailed Geckos.
  • The curators of the reserve usually take the animals out of their enclosures to allow close photographs.
  • You’ll continue to Andasibe with stops at the landscapes for photos and any breaks if necessary.
  • A night walk is organized.
  • Overnight at Feon’ny Ala

Day 12: Andasibe – Antananarivo

  • After breakfast, you’ll meet with your guide for a visit to Andasibe Mantadia National Park and trek along trails to see wild Diademed Sifakas, Woolly Sifakas, Common Brown Lemurs, and the famous Indri Indri. You will explore the trails for orchids and birdlife.
  • In the afternoon, you will visit the Vakona Lodge’s reserve to see common Brown Sifaka, Grey Bamboo Lemurs, and Black and White Ruffed Lemurs.
  • You’ll head back to Antananarivo with stops along the road for pictures.
  • Overnight at Le Pave Hotel Antaninarenina

Day 13: Antananarivo – Departure

  • A city tour of Antananarivo is organized before your  transfer to your flight departure.
