Velondriake is an association of fishing villages located along the southwest coast of Madagascar, in the Atsimo-Andrefana region of Toliara Province.

This locally managed marine area (LMMA) serves as a community-based governance system, created to protect and sustainably manage the region’s rich marine resources. Through locally enforced rules, seasonal fishing closures, and habitat conservation efforts, Velondriake has become a leading example of how communities can work together to preserve their environment while supporting their livelihoods.
