Joffreville (also known as Ambohitra) is a small colonial-era town located in northern Madagascar near Antsiranana (Diego-Suarez). Set at the edge of the lush montane forests of the Amber Mountain region, it is best known as the main gateway to Amber Mountain National Park.
Once a French military outpost, Joffreville still retains traces of its colonial architecture and cooler highland climate. Today, its main tourism appeal comes from its peaceful atmosphere, rainforest access, waterfalls, and biodiversity-rich hiking trails, making it a popular base for nature-focused travel in northern Madagascar.
