Antsiranana
Antsiranana is one of Madagascar’s six provinces, located in the far north of the country. It comprises two regions—Diana and Sava—which are divided into a total of nine districts. The province’s largest city is Antsiranana, also known as Diego-Suarez, with a population of around 200,000. Other major destinations include Sambava and Antalaha in the northeast, and the island of Nosy Be in the northwest—Madagascar’s most visited tourist destination.
The primary tribal groups in this province include the Anjoaty, Sakalava, Antakarana, and Tsimihety. However, the region is also home to a diverse mix of ethnic communities from across Madagascar and beyond, giving it a unique cultural blend.
With warm weather year-round, lush vegetation, stunning beaches, and a vibrant cultural scene, Antsiranana stands out as a must-visit province for anyone exploring Madagascar.
