Wood and stone sculptor, among the most renowned artisans in Madagascar, I had the honor of being named Commander of the Order of Artisan Merit in 2017. My workshop is located 22 km from Antananarivo , along RN7, at PK22 in Ambatofotsy.
With fifty years of experience, I have mastered the traditional culture of woodworking, particularly the Zafimaniry craftsmanship, recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. In the artisan village I created, you will discover my exceptional talent. You can admire wooden houses assembled without nails, ranging from kitchen utensils to walls, shutters, and doors, including furniture and everyday objects. Each piece is made from carefully selected hardwood species, each suited to a specific use or decorative function.
An iconic example of this technique is the Tranomena, a house entirely built from wood, without the use of nails. Visiting my workshop invites you to explore a new world, where craftsmanship and tradition come to life. Traveling is not just about visual pleasure but also about actively participating in the artistic creation process.
I also offer a wood sculpting workshop, where you will learn to carve your own piece. At the end of the workshop, you will take home your unique creation, a one-of-a-kind souvenir from this immersive and enriching experience.
