Riverboat Tour to Hôvatraha | Taolagnaro (Fort-Dauphin)

By boat or canoe, we invite you to cross the freshwater Lanirano Lake and its canals to reach the peninsula of Hôvatraha. The departure should be the latest at 8.30am.

First, we will go through the village of Andrakaraka where the children will greet you, and where fishermen load their pirogue with tree trunks or wood. Along the way, you'll spend one hour discovering the unique flora of the area: pandanus, elephant ears, ravinalas, mangroves and more about the aquatic vegetation. If you are lucky enough, you can also meet some crocodiles.

Then, employees of QMM's dam will stop us as they are controlling the area due to their mining activities.
We can recognize the final destination by hearing the sound of the ocean because it's where the river is flowing into the sea.

The villagers will welcome us and invite us to cook with them, then have lunch together. In the afternoon, we will let you explore the village by yourself, but will be available if you need a guided tour.

On the way back, admiring the sunset behind Pic Saint Louis and Bezavona mountains will end this incredible journey as a view when returning to Fort-Dauphin.
