Fort Flacourt Museum | Taolagnaro (Fort Dauphin)

We invite you to discover the history of Fort-Dauphin through the ruins of Fort Flacourt which is currently part of a military camp,

Located above the town's former main port, it offers a panoramic view from Amparihy beach to Hôvatraha's shipwreck, and of course the majestic mountains behind.
At the heart of this camp is a museum containing everything that should be known about the habits and customs of the Antanosy tribe.

During the visit, Rosia and I will be delighted to highlight the richness of their traditions, such as the different hairstyles and tattoos, ancestral practices, weaving techniques and uses.

This introduction is the best way to start your stay in the region if you want to really appreciate every aspects of this journey.
