Ever wondered what a vanilla plantation looks like? Local guide, Gladis, is keen to show people around the world how vanilla is grown in Madagascar, in sustainable ways. Her family owns a small vanilla plantation on the island of Nosy Komba (lemur island), which is a short boat ride away from Hell-Ville, Nosy be.
Gladis offers an immersive experience, where you don’t only get to see the vanilla plants in their glory but you’ll have the opportunity to see a variety of fruits growing, see wildlife (chameleons, geckos, maybe a lemur or two) and enjoy a lovely hike through the forest.
Once you’ve seen the vanilla plantation you’ll hike back down to where many of the locals live and enjoy some delicious local cuisine before heading back to Hell-Ville on your private boat.
